Chris Mace, Group Commercial Director
Chris is one of the founders of SaxonAir and started flying from an early age having gained his pilot’s licence at the age of just 17. Chris has spent 20 years in the aviation industry. He initially started up a flying school before going on to manage a successful helicopter charter business before finally setting up SaxonAir with the backing of a local business entrepreneur. In his spare time Chris runs several holiday cottages close to the Norfolk Broads as well as a small holding with resident sheep and chickens!
Alex Durand, CEO
Alex joined SaxonAir in January 2013 as CEO. He began his career in business aviation over 20 years ago as a young graduate with an interest in flying. He now brings to SaxonAir a wealth of experience in all areas of the industry. Alex and his wife and four children are looking forward to the move to Norfolk, from Oxfordshire. A lifelong Norwich fan, he is planning many visits to Carrow Road!
Neil Turnbull, General Manager
Neil joins SaxonAir as General Manager at an exciting time in the development of the company. With a background firmly rooted in Business Aviation, Neil’s experience brings knowledge of the charter industry spanning over 25 years. He has recently relocated to Norfolk after working in Dubai and Zurich. During free time he enjoys the beautiful Norfolk ‘outdoors’ and being with his family and dogs.
James Palmer, FBO & Flight Support Manager
Brought up in the Aviation industry, James (32) has been in the Private Air Charter industry for the past 7 years and is one of the co-founders of SaxonAir. James has had a Private Pilot’s Licence since 2003 and enjoys building on this experience any time he can. He says, ‘It’s a wonderful feeling to come to work every day and do something you love, and to build on something that I co-founded. We’re still a young company, and I know there are a lot more exciting things to come!’
Lee McGahan, Flight Operations Manager
Lee joined SaxonAir in April 2008, as Flight Operations Manager. Lee enjoys the challenge of improving working practices and ensuring a customer focused approach is taken to provide the client with the best possible service. Lee says, “Flight Operations is a diverse role within SaxonAir and having a good team of people makes coming to work every day quite enjoyable.” When time allows Lee is learning to fly at a local flying club with hopes of gaining his private pilot’s license soon.
Nick Highton, Chief Pilot
Nick joined SaxonAir in 2009 as Head of Flight Operations and Flight Training and was instrumental in the introduction of SaxonAir’s new fleet of aircraft. Previously Nick served 12 years in the Fleet Arm flying the Sea King helicopter, on leaving the service he flew both helicopter and fixed wing aircraft for the next 10 years, gaining his instructor / examiner qualifications on both rotary fixed wing aircraft, specialising in fixed wing some 9 years ago. In his spare time Nick enjoys windsurfing, sailing and in line skating.
Anna Loake, Helicopter Pilot / Marketing Manager
Anna developed a keen interested in rotary aviation when she began flying lessons in 2004 as a hobby. She subsequently gave up a senior position and full time career to complete the required studies and flight training to gain her commercial licence. She then became a flying instructor and also began to work commercially for a private owner and as a helicopter charter pilot. She joined SaxonAir in 2009 and is type rated on both their EC120 and EC135 helicopters. She is also head of Marketing and PR.
Steve Mills, Continuing Airworthiness Manager
Steve served in the Fleet Arm for 23 years as a helicopter engineer and left as Senior Chief in 1998. Since then, he has progressed through various roles as Engineer, Quality manager, and more recently as Line Maintenance Manager for both UK and New Zealand based companies. He joined SaxonAir in 2010, and brings with him a vast amount of experience in Part 145 operations and managing maintenance schedules.
Marta Zielinska, Compliance Monitoring and Safety Manager
Marta joined SaxonAir in 2012 as Compliance Monitoring and Safety Manager. Previously, Marta spent 5 years as Quality Auditor at Ryan Air and brings with her a wealth of experience in quality auditing and safety awareness. She has moved from London to live and work in Norwich and loves the open space and Norfolk beaches. In her spare time, she enjoys travelling, scuba diving and meeting new cultures.
