The helicopter allows for faster, more efficient inspection of assets and vegetation than foot or vehicle patrols for several reasons;
- We are able to cover hundreds of miles in a short amount of time giving a thorough overview of the asset being inspected.
- We can fly lower and slower than an aeroplane and have greater mobility. Flying closer to the subject being surveyed provides better quality photography with higher resolution images.
- Use of the helicopter as an aerial platform also enables multiple surveys to be completed and save time, for example, vegetation study and insulator inspection.
Aerial survey services include;
- Power line inspections
- Pipeline inspections
- Sugar beet crop surveys
- Potato crop surveys
- Thermal imaging (infra red) surveys
Pilot Training
Aerial survey work require pilots to maintain a high level of concentration for prolonged periods. Training procedures are designed to minimise risk to both aircraft and crew, and provide for optimum efficiency. All our pilots are highly trained and will have undertaken specific training during regular line checks relating to low level flying procedures.
All commercial helicopter flights are operated under the AOC of London Helicopter Centres, GB2250.
